As a novice web surfer, Resaerching Online for Dummies (like me) by Revea Basch and Mary Ellen Bates was just what the doctor ordered. From the world behind the web to thinking and working like a researcher, Basch has provided the basic information necessary for understanding what the web is and what it does and does not do.Before reading this book I thought a search engine was something a mechanic used to find the infamous "clunk" noise no one at the car dealership can hear. However, it wasn't long before I found my self saying things like "maybe I should try excite." Or, "I bet I can use GO to get what I need." Is this OK to post in public?But, by the time I read the chapter on specialty search engines I felt like I was cruising the inormation superhighway like no one had ever done before. Dot com this and dot com that.As I continued through the text I did find myself becoming a little annoyed at the pejorative nature of the writing. I guess that's why the title is Researching Online for "Dummies." This minor distraction aside, Basch has done an excellent job of making sense of this hypertechnical computer lingo. One thing is for sure. "I won't leave my home page without it."

I've been researching online since 1994 and I found something that I didn't know on almost every page of this book. It is informative enough to keep a seasoned researcher entertained but simple to use for a first time web searcher.I may have to have my copy hard bound somewhere to keep it from falling apart through overuse.

You can fine everything you want, just learn from the book how. I have a very good opinion of the book but they need a new version up to date.

This book, like most cancer related books, doesn't dare go into protocols and details due to fear of legal liability. If you want want actionable ideas, 8x the content without the fluff, incredible detail but simple enough for a layman to understand, get Neil McKinney's Naturopathic Oncology instead... can buy the updated PDF version from his website.

Drs. Anderson and Stengler have written a practical guide on managing cancer care with diet, nutrition and other natural therapies that can be in used in conjunction with conventional cancer treatments. This is my go-to book for my patients going through any type of cancer. I particularly loved the fact that there are hundreds of references that can be shared with your oncologist and that there is a lot of science behind each recommendation. I highly recommend this book for anyone dealing with cancer or for healthcare providers who treat cancer in their practices.

I liked this book because it looks at both, "traditional" as well as"alternative" medicine. I truly believe in overcoming cancer, we need to look at all that is available. There is no one way, no one pill, no one cure. Dr. Stengler makes that clear as well. This book is NOT promoting yet another diet to cure cancer. I like that Dr. Stengler breaks down the most common cancers and best supplementation for it. Well written and helped me a lot. I would definitely recommend to anybody that is on the cancer journey or has a loved one going through it.

I had the pleasure of being a student of Dr. Anderson's in naturopathic medical school and his work continues to be nothing short of groundbreaking. This book is intuitive, insightful, and a great read for current cancer patients, cancer survivors, families, and any practitioner who sees cancer patients. With a reference section that's 50+ pages long, you know these two docs have done their homework. It's a remarkable and accessible book that I can't recommend highly enough for anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of alternative cancer therapies.

Great to learn about alternative therapies that your Oncologist won't tell you about. My wife has Stage iv Breast cancer and we're looking forward to these alternative treatments. There are cures for cancer for many people. During Chemo, her oncologist said "Eat whatever you want." REALLY?????????

This book is chock-full of the latest research on cancer treatments! I found the individual sections on different types of cancers to be most helpful and think everyone should read the general information about treating and preventing cancer. I highly recommend it to patients and healthcare providers alike!

I bought this book after seeing the authorâ€™s interview on the YouTube channel High Intensity Health, and the info he gave on the interview was much more helpful than this book. The book is full of footnotes of studies, making it seem scientific and research-based, but the info is so basic (things that most health-conscious people know already), and doesnâ€™t tell you which protocols makes the most sense. For example, he listed different diets but didnâ€™t discuss which ones he thinks are most helpful. I bought this book for his expert opinion, not to learn what a ketogenic diet is!

I apologize in advance: This is for the kindle version.It's not possible to leave a Kindle-specific review, but people like me, who want to buy the Kindle version, need to know just how awful the digital copy is. It's a shame, because the book itself if phenomenal (although from what I can see, edition 1 is better than edition 3).The mathematics in the Kindle version is impossible to read without a magnifying glass. I've posted two screenshots from Samsung Note 2 phone, and two screenshots from a Google Nexus 10. And, no, you can't increase the math fontsize. It's fixed.I'll let the screenshots speak for themselves. Now I'm going to see if I can get my money back.

The book is great, it covers all the themes. The only question where to find the solution manual for the exercises?

Quantitative Finance and financial engineering are changing rapidly following the 2007-2008 events. The areas of valuation and hedging, risk management, financial derivatives design and management are changing rapidly. The focus is more on cost of trading and on proper management of basic derivatives products rather than on designing new exotic derivatives every few months. Proper management of basic derivatives when including credit risk, collateral and funding costs, among other issues, is more difficult than managing exotic derivatives without additional risks. In this sense a book explaining how the basic products work and how quantitative finance has evolved is much needed today. In this sense Prof. Kosowski's important update of the late Prof. Neftci classic title serves a double purpose: introduce a broad audience with minimal quantitative knowledge to the field of financial engineering and quantitative finance, and show what are today's challenges for the industry. Products are introduced explaining the financial ideas behind their design and are also described with numerical examples. The book starts with institutional aspects of derivative markets and cash flows engineering, and ends with the latest developments on valuation adjustments developed to include most post 2008 effects in valuation, covering an impressive range of topics in between in its 870+ pages. This is the type of eclectic book that is needed today to frame quantitative finance and financial engineering properly in the broad context of the post 2008 developments, and I recommend this book to my students when they ask me a general reference book on financial engineering.

This new edition of Principles of Financial Engineering, extensively updated and expanded by Professor Robert Kosowski, is a highly relevant book for practitioners, students, teachers and researchers with an interest in this field. The reader is introduced to the financial engineering world through an extremely detailed, rigorous and accessible way. Cutting hedge academic research about the relevant topics supports the conceptual explanations and real world examples are extensively used to illustrate them. Importantly, this new edition reflects the significant post-crisis changes in financial engineering. This textbook is, in my opinion, the new reference for learning about financial engineering and therefore a must buy.

I bought all previous editions and will continue to buy. Robert did an excellent job.
