This Bible gets the mom of 5 stamp of approval! We have 5 boys ages 9 months to 8. This is our new bible for reading aloud. If you have only toddlers The Jesus Storybook Bible would be better. With our varied age groups this works best for us. This would be too difficult for my boys to read by themselves, but for reading aloud with mom - YES. The pictures are gorgeous. The text is as close to scripture as I have found. This is a big bible. We love it.

Let me just first start off by saying, this Bible is a CLASSIC and perfect in every way.I bought this bible for my fiance's son. He is 10, mother is not very religious but open to whatever her son wants. His father told me his son became curious when he went to church with a friend and wanted to know more. I brought out my 20 something year old version of this Bible. His father (a Catholic man, I was raised a southern Baptist but do not follow that anymore) looked through it and was blown away. I remember reading the stories when I was a child and looking at the pictures. So, he wanted to get his son a children's bible like this one.I didn't really go through it because it was a gift, but the only difference I noticed was that the cover was different than the 20 year old one, and the pictures were more vibrant, although that is probably just due to age. I am thinking about ordering a copy for myself and maybe every 10-20 years get a new one.I would %100 percent recommend.

Excellent!!! After examining several other versions, this is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a preview of this Bible online. So, I first tried a few other children's Bibles - and was sorely disappointed. This version provides a traditional, descriptive, account of classic Bible stories for children and adolescents older than 5 years. The stories are lengthy (several paragraphs (1-2 pages)) and are consistent with the KJV and NIV. IMHO, this is the best and only Children's Bible that you should order from Amazon or anywhere else.So, get this one. . . you won't be disappointed.

For a used book, published in 1965, its in wonderful condition. I am very pleased for the money spent.As to the content of this book, it covers major events and peoples in the Bible in a very truthful way. For each story, it quotes the book and the chapter of the Bible and enable parents or teachers to read more from the Bible themselves. It also quotes psalms and verses and allows young children to taste the wisdom and beauty of the Bible.As to the pictures.... Wa! That's all I can say. They are vivid and in details.This book is priceless. My grandson love this book above all other story books.

After searching for an accurate short-form illustrated story-book Bible, we finally chose "The Children's Bible". It has served us faithfully throughout the early years. We read this with our kids every night for at least 8 years. It is beat up. The cover is broken. Some pages are torn. Lots of tape. We will never part with this old book. It still brings back good memories. Soon, we will start reading it to our grandchildren.

My Sunday school is very excited over their new bibles with the colorful pictures. They needed a longer story to read with illustrations than their beginners bibles. These bibles fit the need.

I bought this for my son who has decided to rebel against the rest of the Atheist family and believe in God. What can you do? I figured he needs to know the stories and at least have some idea of what he is saying he believes in.At first glance, this bible has words that are simple enough for a 7 year old to understand and pictures to keep him engaged. I can't complain.

I had this book when I was a child, I remember the pictures and the way it was written. Cute book! I got it for my 2 year old son for when we go to Montana to keep him busy on the plane.

Love the cute animal names. My son is 17 months and loves search and find books. This one has some easy pages and some that are really hard (took me a bit to find the animals lol). Some of the animals are hidden partially behind item as. I think he will grow into it in the next few months.

My son loves this book! He Memorized where the animals were on each page quickly, but still loves showing us where they are.

My 2 and a half year old loves finding the animals in this book.

My 2 year old loves this book. Each page has one animal that you have to find. It gives you a picture to work from instead of words.

It's the most comprehensive C / C++ book I come across for the Arduino platform and contains 400 pages of in-depth stuff. This book is 95% about coding & compiling for Arduino, and not much about hardware and projects. Jack Purdum has been teaching C for decades and know every detail, but that's maybe the book's both strongest and weakest point. I think this book is best for someone with some C experience from before, and now really want to learn all aspects. For the absolute beginner on the other hand I think it's getting to detailed too fast and it's a lot of explanations for each code-example. But for me it was what I was looking for; a book with all the pros and cone's of almost every aspect of C for Arduino.

Absolutely the best book on programming Arduino on the market. I have purchased several books on Arduino. When I say several, I have just about all the ones that I can find for my kindle. The author of this book, teaches in such a way that you just get it. I have read this book cover to cover twice and used it for reference more times than I can count. Where other books do a good job and teach you enough to blink some LED's. This book teaches you the full power that C and C++ has to offer. Even teaching the power of using pointers! I highly recommend this book. Get this book and read it and stop and do the examples as you go. Make sure you fully understand what is going on before moving to the next chapter. Do this and this book will teach you how to write programs for the Arduino that you never knew possible!

When he's actually explaining coding, which is about 25% of the time, Mr Purdum is excellent. As someone else mentioned, I even understand pointers now. And as many have said, his skills as an educator show through.However, the re-explaining often goes too far. Add in the analogies and sometimes, a clear idea becomes muddied. In one section of the chapter on pointers, there's one paragraph to explain the concept, then three more explaining what could go wrong - but in a chummy, sorta funny way. Then a page and a half of an analogy. If he had just taken an extra paragraph on the original explanation it would have been complete, plus reinforced.Instead, a challenging concept is explained succinctly, then confused by adding in the (already mentioned) errors that can happen and then confused further by adding the analogy.No one else has mentioned that and so perhaps it's me. I like that the book isn't dry. It adds to the value and doesn't bore you. But I'd rather have double the serious discussion with a quarter of the rest.The other confusing part is explaining, then saying that the reason is coming later - then throwing in the analogies. Honestly, it's the best arduino C book by far and my comments are only about style.Get it if you want in depth instruction and explanation. Just beware of the caveats.

After a 15 year hiatus from being a professional software developer and ham radio, I decided (at the urging of a couple of longtime friends) to get back into both. I purchased a QRP radio kit controlled by one of the Arduino processors. Subsequently, I decided to build a magnetic loop antenna to go with it. That required programming yet another Arduino to control it. Jack's book looked like just what I needed to bring myself back up to speed. It was! I still have my old copy of Kerrnigan and Ritchie left over from my days at BTL, but although that covers all aspects of the "C" language, it is one of the hardest to read books on the subject ever. Jack's book on the other hand is easy to read (print could be bigger for us old folks); he thoroughly explains the concepts and provides real-world examples. Through this book, I was able to get myself back to my old form in just a week or so! Not to say that this isn't a great book for those who have never written a line of code in their lives; it most certainly is. Looking forward to more; maybe "C++"?

I'm still working through this book to brush up on my C skills so I can better use the Arduino for ham radio projects. Even though I'm only about 1/2 way through this book, I have to say it's probably the best C book I've ever read. I'm not a professional developer who can sneeze and have 1000 lines of source code come out. Instead, I've mainly used C periodically through my career for debugging software problems. I wish I'd had this book 25 years ago when I read my first K&R book and took my first C class. The C I learned early on never seemed to "stick" with me to where it was2nd nature and I always seemed to stumble when reading through the code. This book is changing that. The reason I'm only 1/2 way through the book is I'm taking Jack's recommendation to work through it purposefully and todo all the exercises (for supplemental help, I'm also working through exercises in an Arduino starter kit course). Jack is a great instructor and things are finally starting to sink in. He has an ability to take confusing topics and make them clear. For the first time, I'm clearly understanding pointers, casting, data types, etc. Jack has the ability to explain difficult subjects of what's going on under the C hood through his clever use of analogies (like the backpack and the bucket). I'm thoroughly enjoying the book and look forward to the 2nd half. This book is great for beginners with no knowledge of C and also for those who know C but need a refresher or another look at things. Since this book is so good, I'm going to purchase any of Jack's other books I can find on ham radio and Arduino programming (I know of at least one). Great book! I can highly recommend it!

He spends too much time examining the finer points of C that probably do not do much to enhance your ability to make use of the Arduino platform. I don't think a person would ever use some of the stuff he goes on about with their Arduino. He gives little insight into compiler errors and how to debug them and does not go into enough detail on how to use libraries and other open-source resources. It's like he's an expert in C, but he tries to suggest he's an expert in C writing for the Arduino. I do not gather he is an expert on writing C for Arduino applications in the least.

Reason why I bought the book: Just one. Rosalynn Sumners. She was rather reluctant when Scott called her and invited her to join the tour......and that was back in 1986. Thirteen years and a few hundred shows later, Roz has matured into one of the finest entertainers on the ice. Her departure from the SOI tour after the 1998-99 season was rather sad, but rereading her thoughts and feelings on subjects such as Sergei's death to Scott's cancer and her own shining moments was well worth the money I paid for the book. Roz, I'll miss you when SOI starts the 1999-2000 tour. God bless!

This book was not very expensive in my opinion. Around $20.00, and WELL worth it. The photos are fabulous! Hienz Kluetmeir is a genius with the camera, and many of his famous shots are in the book. It is a VERY good behind-the-scenes look at how this incredible show got started, how it is put together, how difficult the training, and organization is, and how close all of the skaters and crew are. It really IS a big family. There is a WHOLE entire chapter devoted to Gordeeva and Grinkov, and many photos of them, as well as Katia solo, and some of Dasha too. There also is a whole chapter on Scott...the "Father" of the show. Great content. Great photos. Great read. On a skating scale I give it a 9.9 !!! (.01 deduction for not having a photo of G&G on the front or back covers.) :o) LOL!!

Fans of the many plays of Don Zolidis (countless theater and forensics kids across the country, and even the world), will find plenty of reasons to rejoice in his debut YA novel. As a reader may expect from a playwright, the first person narrative is strong and nuanced, as Craig, a smart (even nerdy) high school senior recounts the seven torments of his first real relationship with Amy, a young woman who, at first, may seem completely out of his league.If this sounds like a story you have heard before, hold on. Zolidis is far too clever a writer for the obvious. He inverts stereotypes by making his characters effectively human and relatable, while dealing with subjects all teens should consider in relationships, especially the ideas of expectation and idealized partners vs reality.I strongly recommend.

Let me begin by noting that Iâ€™m an educator. I occasionally find myself checking out books in the realm of adolescent readers to make connections or stay â€˜in the knowâ€™. Too often, the plots and characters seem contrived or underdeveloped. Iâ€™m not looking for REALITY, but â€˜realityâ€™ in a non-fantasy/sf novel is always appreciated.Thatâ€™s one of the elements that made this book such an enjoyable read. The various main and supporting characters feel like real young people, and their experiences and emotions are given the appropriate amount of weight. There are some lovely moments of growth where a character will realize the perceptions that they have of their life experience may not be consistent with how others see them.I always enjoy writing that deploys snark and sarcasm with aplomb. Not only is there a cornucopia of it in this book, its use adds a layer of humanity and believability to the characters. Similarly, my nerdy pursuits make me a prime audience for some of the key characters, especially Craig. The usage of Dungeons & Dragons gameplay is more than just a token, surface reference for readers who are obsessed with Stranger Things. Some of the â€˜deep cutâ€™ references are especially appreciated, and the combination with the snarky tone of the narration was perfectly pitched.The changes of tone, from playful misadventures to literal life-and-death seriousness and the associated despair, are generally handled deftly and fairly naturally.I would contend that this not really a work for young readers. The style and content of the writing, and especially the 1990s setting, seem to pitch the book more at millennials. Some of the elements, particularly generational backsliding and unexpected economic challenges, will certainly connect with younger readers. But it may not mean as much, personally.A thrilling, heart-wrenching, and unexpectedly wonderful read.

I read this book in three sittings. I'm not usually one for young adult novels, and I generally have a hard time getting into books that don't include spaceships at least peripherally. Sure, the protagonist is a nerd in much the same way that I was in high school, but it was the flow of the prose that kept me from putting this book down. The book is written as a monolog of Craig, explaining, in non chronological order, his relationship with his on again off again girlfriend during his senior year of high school. The pattern of the monologue is relatable, funny, and insightful in a way that feels real.

Don, it was a great book. I've been reading and thinking about it all day. We just recently had our 25 year class reunion. I wasn't able to attend but thanks to Facebook, I got to see glimpes into the event. It's funny how in high school you feel like you know a person's life yet as you get older, you realize its not usually what you expected. Facebook has allowed me to reconnect with old classmates and see a little into their lives. Thank you for writing this book and sharing part of your life and Janesville's.

This book is so real. Just a warning that it jumps back and forth in time, but it works for this story. I'm not giving a synopsis, there are enough of those. But of you want to relive pieces of high school romance, this book will help bring back those memories.And the author's last name rhymes with tonsillitis. Does it get any better?

This book is pretty awesome! I live Don Zolidis' sense of humor and can hear the characters' voices and their personalities come alive. The story is written non-chronologically which is different and makes you want to read more to see how it started and ends. I'm from Texas and have no experience with Wisconsin, but totally get everything about life there. Thanks for a great book, Don!

I loved this YA book. I am an educator and believe high school students would find this read both relatable and engaging. I have produced several of Zolidis' plays and could not wait for this read. I was not disappointed. I love his 1st person narrative, and enjoy his author's voice immensely! Highly recommended!

SPOILER ALERT!!!I donâ€™t find ANYTHING about animal death amusing. The cat being mauled to death by the German shepherd? Was the LAST straw for me.

About the Author

Gay Talese was born in Ocean City, New Jersey, in 1932, to Italian immigrant parents. He attended the University of Alabama, and after graduating was hired as a copyboy at the New York Times.After a brief stint in the army, Talese returned to the New York Times in 1956. Since then he has written for numerous publications, including Esquire, the New Yorker, Newsweek, and Harper’s Magazine. Talese, by letting so much of the story be told in the Voyeur's own words, by going into such intimate detail of the Voyeur's life, asks the question of us, the readers, Wouldn't we, if we could have gotten away with it, done the same? Talese doesn't judge. While he clearly places himself above the Voyeur culturally and intellectually, his words occasionally seething pretension, he lets the reader decide whether Gerald Foos is a reprehensible creep, or just another person who thinks nobody is watching, only following human nature.The New Yorker article, which I initially thought so fantastic it had to be a fiction, is really sufficient to tell the bulk of the tale. The book follows up, affirming that this really did happen, and that the aftermath was nil. For that purpose, the Netflix documentary does the job, and if you've seen it, and read the original article, there's not much more in the book to make it worth reading. That's not entirely true. There are some stories, told in Foos' sometimes eloquent prose, which are so fantastic as to almost certainly be fantasies. Others are written in a style much more consistent with fabrication than to contemporaneous recollection. By including these stories, without passing judgment on their veracity, Talese lets the reader's own intuition decide to what extent Foos is credible. Again, we the tables are turned, and we become the voyeurs.

I saw the documentary, which made me want to read the book. Why? The lurid life of a man snooping on his motel guests was a curiosity. What I discovered in this book is that Talese and his subject are both obsessed with the concept of voyeurism. Talese admits his life as a journalist is that of a voyeur, which makes sense, and his protagonist here is often given too much credit for being a de facto researcher obsessed with the personal lives of his guests. When the motel owner witnesses a murder in his hotel and doesn't call the police I could no longer give him credit for any of his curiosity. He chose protecting his voyeur palace over a human life. What I found most interesting was the years of being voyeur proved to the motel owner not that people's intimate lives are salacious, rather they are dreary and often unhappy in the extreme. That revelation is what redeems the book.

What a great book! I love Gay Talese's style of writing he's such a wonderful journalist. Just tells the story like it is, doesn't add his emotion into it, really great journalist. Anyway, the story was rather shocking, there were lots of moments where I was shocked and disgusted, and doesn't that make for a great book? I also watched the documentary on Netflix (which was released recently) and it was nice to see the motel owner in "person" - haha. I thought it was hilarious the motel owner considered himself a researcher. Anyway, this book was great. I loved reading all the stories and having a private peek into folks' sex lives... I guess I'm a voyeur too in a way!

This is obviously a minority opinion but I rather liked this book. The "voyeur" is a creepy guy and his attempt to make his observations sound like serious sexual research are unconvincing. His interests are prurient. However, he often makes somewhat astute comments about the people he observes. That doesn't redeem him in any way but it does make for some interesting reading. There are some discrepancies in his story but it rings true on the whole.I also found no reason to be critical of Mr. Talese's conduct. His actions were appropriate for a journalist.

A voyeur who owns a motel contacts the author (Gay Talese) and wants to tell his story. The voyeur (with his wife's permission) spends years recording on legal size paper what he saw through a vent in the ceiling. He also writes his conclusions for each entry. So this book is mostly fact, with photos of the real motel. Of all the stories, lesbian women make love the longest and have a lot of orgasms. Most married couples argue, and don't have sex. The men, in general, are insenstive trolls. When a guy screws his wife, it's mechanical and leaves her frustrated. (Just like real life???)

While I would say the story is unbelievable if true, I found it to be not believable. In any case the telling of the story is clunky. It would have been better if Talese wrote the narrative of Gerald Foos, and then wrote this book as the narrative of writing that book. Talese does a good job in his description of people, places, and events; but there just isn't enough here to justify a book. There was a share of repetition and analysis that helped to stretch the book out far enough to make me desire its final page. Talese claims to strive for factual information, but adds his own opinions and analysis. I would have preferred more factual information. I'll form my own opinion through my own analysis.

A quick read, and one of my favorite reads about human behaviour. Gerald Foos isnâ€™t a psychologist and has no sociology training, yet his observations are still insightful and fascinating.Authenticity is questioned as some dates and stories donâ€™t line up, but the book becomes more of an exploration of Gerald the man and Gerald the Voyeur and all the dichotomy and irony that exists in that single person, rather than the Voyeurâ€™s accounts.On a side note, though: Sometimes it feels like Gay Talese prefers writing about Gay Talese more than he must write about Gerald Foos.

Very interesting. Controversial idea whose results should be taken into account. Valid observations.Recommended reading for all interested in the lives and behavior of common American people.

About the Author

E. Raymond Capt, M.A., A.I.A., F.S.A., Scot.At first glance, one might think E. Raymond Capt must be an ordained minister. He quotes chapters and verses from the Scriptures and tells about Bible characters in a flowing narrative which would credit any pulpit. What he's been, for over forty years, though, is a practicing archaeologist - not always digging to unearth ancient remains, but in recent years, sifting through known archaeological findings to shed new light on the history of the Bible.Capt holds a Master of Arts degree in Christian History and Biblical Archaeology from Covenant College, Lake Wales, Florida, and California State teaching credentials in Biblical Archaeology and History. He is also a member of the Archaeological Institute of America. In addition to writing, Capt has produced and presents slide and film lectures on Biblical Archaeology. These have been enjoyed by clubs, churches, and schools in many states and in Great Britain.In 1972, Capt was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and in 1976 received an honorary Doctorate of Literature (Doctor Literarum Honoris Causa) from the Accademia Testina Per Le Scienze, (established A.D. 450) Pescara, Italy.

I love love love this book. So many fascinating components to the Great Pyramid. I highly recommend reading this book. This was the information I was looking for that I couldn't find anywhere else.

Great book as always from E. Raymond Capt collection IPad format

This book brought me into a clear understanding of the pyramids which led me to a further study. Great book well researched and you can trust what is written.

The work is an example of advanced levels of applied hermeneuticology and dialectic physics. Beginning with the mathematical principles of The Giza Structure known as The Great Pyramid of Cheops, only remaining wonder of the world, Capt outlines a series of remarkeable "coincidences" concerning the meaning hidden in the stones.Will satisfy the interests of the learned scholar or pyramidical novice alike. Contains very fine graphics and schematics. Read a copy on loan from a friend which introduced to my mind certain new precepts. It seems more and more likely upon completing this work that the divine will is expressed within the pyramid, a pillar of Egypt as the Prophet Isaiah stated, a gospel in stone.

To this point. It is certain the bset book on The Great Pyramid.E. Raymond Capt is, in my opion, the best writer of Biblical Archaeology. His faith shows through in all his books. A Study of Pyramidology will explain the secrets of the Pyramid that you not hear or see anywhere. Either on Television, or, I would believe, in any magazines on the market. To understand why this is true is way too long an explanation to enter here. But simply put, there is much in this world hidden by those who do not wish you to have certain knowledge of God's great creations. Anyperson, young or old will have their eyes opended to the wonders of this great structure.

Incredible work - very detailed and [almost] understandable to the novice! A more in depth companion to his earlier work, cannot recommend this highly enough.

If you only had one book you could buy on the Symbolisms of the Great Pyramid, this should be it! It covers all aspects of the symbology of the Great Pyramid, has clear diagrams and pictures (almost one per page), is written in current English, and is reasonably priced.

The author's name, I believe, is "E. Raymond Capt" not "E. Raymond"
